Advantages of renewable energy

You know already that the supply of fossil fuels are dwindling all over the world. Governments and environmentalists are warning people that something needs to be done to keep up with the constantly increasing demand for energy as the world’s population increases. People, just like you and me, are looking at the cost-savings and other advantages of renewable energy and whether it is a reliable source of power for our homes.

Fossil fuels continue to become more expensive and less available, but another major problem is that they have a terrible impact on the environment. Studies show that there is a direct correlation between the use of fossil fuels and global warming. Global warming severely impacts the way of life for both human and animal species, and changes weather patterns which includes heat waves, hurricanes and droughts.

If you want to check out more about the damage of global warming, I recommend renting the video ”An Inconvenient Truth’. You will be surprised about what is really happening today and you will definitely want to use renewable energy in your home whether you building new, or want to make small changes to make your existing home to make it more energy efficient and ‘greener’.

One of the biggest advantages of renewable energy is it’s the cleanest form of power that produces a minimal carbon footprint. That’s why so many people are choosing to use renewable energy sources such as solar power and wind generated power.

Another advantage (if you don;t know it already) is that the government is providing tax incentives and credits for people who choose to install renewable energy and related technologies. Who doesn’t like getting a tax break while improving their home?

Get Tax Credits

Good news:  today there are federal tax credits available for people who choose to install solar power. As of 2010, these tax credits make up 30 percent of the value of solar power systems and can be used for both commercial and residential properties.

By making renewable energy more affordable, people are more willing to install solar panel systems to protect the environment from further global warming if it is within their budget.

Disadvantages – Professional Green Energy Systems

The advantages of renewable energy could fill several pages on this site, but let’s take a look at the disadvantages as well. Obviously a main disadvantage that we see is that it is usually very expensive and cost prohibitive to install professionally built renewable energy systems. Until that changes, only people with high incomes or good lines of equity will be able to afford the $20,000 it costs to install a professional/commercial photovoltaic solar panel system.
