Solar power does not emit greenhouse gasses like other sources of power do (i.e., coal, oil and gas).

Whether an effect of global warming is minor or major greatly depends on someone's own situation. For instance, if you do not work in agriculture in say Texas, the economic impact of increased droughts (major effect) will not affect you directly though it will affect you indirectly (relatively minor effect) due to increased food prices.

Other major effects are: rising of the sea levels globally, increase of extreme weather events (due to more moisture in the air), acidification of our oceans, thawing of permafrost releasing large quantities of methane (a more potent greenhouse gas), extinction of animal and plant species (negative effect on food-chains), etc.

It is argued that solar power does not pollute.Of course this argument is a falsely as it ignores the construction AND it ignores the effects you have when you take open land and install large solar arrays on it.This land would have previously been home to a variety of plants.These plants absorb and metabolize CO2.A true analysis would account for this loss of CO2 absorption.

In addition, without govt subsidies, solar photo voltaic arrays have simple payback periods of around 30 – 50 years in most areas.They are not yet economically feasible except in specific applications and areas where electric costs are astronomically high.i.e. in excess of $0.25/kWh.

It's the Sun that controls climate and it doesn't care if you use solar power or not, nor will warming or cooling be changed by that usage.
