Is becoming a renewable energy engineer a wise choice?
Loz Asked: Is becoming a renewable energy engineer a wise choice? I'm a 27 year old male. Currently working as part of a plant maintenance team for a large scale book production company. I have completed an advanced modern apprenticeship and a HNC in mechanical engineer and hold around 7 years experience. I enjoy my work and have a keen interest in engineering but I am looking for, lets say, the new frontier, something a bit more exciting. I have been researching into courses that will give me industry recognized qualifications in renewable engineering which i find rather interesting. Only problem is the cost of the courses. OLCI, who claim to be the largest training provider in this field, offer a course totalling 10000. The representative i spoke to was adamant that there would be good prospects for me once i completed my course and lots of different avenues to take. The cost also includes post course support for people starting their own business and supposedly a wealth of industry contacts as a route to industry. Is this a wise way to go? Does anybody know anyone who has a wind turbine?
Asked: Does anybody know anyone who has a wind turbine? I looked into solar panels a little and decided they are impractical. I am a renter and i want a portable unit. I'll honestly probably never buy them, but i'm really curious about finding practical, affordable solutions for individuals looking for renewable energy sources.Amazon.com has a wind turbine with generator for $600 that generates 400+ watts of energy. A space heater requires ~1500 and would provide a significant amount of heat for a small home, so it would require maybe three turbines. It might be worth it. . . The solar panels were $300 to produce 60 watts, by the wayagain, this is just a curiosity. Thanks!!

Or is is too broad a subject to study and therefore come out with good prospects, if i were to do this course, what would my options be after graduating?
